Residents are being reminded that council office opening times and services will be affected over the festive period.
In Preston, the Town Hall will be open as usual until Christmas Eve, when it will shut at 2pm and will reopen on January 2 from 9am.
Alternate week bin collections will continue, with most collections unaffected, however there will be no waste or recycling collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.
Properties that would normally have a collection on these days have been sent a leaflet with revised collection information. This can also be checked on the council’s website, alongside details on the market and leisure centres.
In South Ribble, the Civic Centre will close at noon on Christmas Eve and will re-open on January 2 at 8.30am. For out-of-hours emergencies, call 01772 625499.
Bin collections will change for residents who would normally be due have their grey bin or recycling collected on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day. The new dates for the grey bins are: Christmas Day – now December 22, Boxing Day – now December 23, New Year’s Day – now December 29.
Households that would normally have their recycling collected on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day will miss a collection. Extra paper and cardboard can be taken to the Recycling Centre in Flensburg Way, open daily from 9am to 6pm, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The next dates for recycling are: Christmas Day – now January 8, Boxing Day – now January 9, New Year’s Day – now January 15. Regular collections will resume on January 5.
Chorley council offices will be closed from 1pm on Christmas Eve, reopening at 8.45am on January 5. The Contact Centre will be open for phone enquiries only on 01257 515151 between 10am and 2pm from December 29 to 31 and also January 2.
Changes to bin collections can be checked via waste collection calendars or online.
