The Clinical Excellence Awards recognise and reward NHS consultants and academic GPs who perform “over and above” the standard expected of their role.

The Advisory Committee for Clinical Excellence Awards gives awards for quality and excellence, acknowledging personal contributions.

Mark Pugh, medical director at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said he was “delighted” the contribution of the two consultants had been recognised in the awards, and said they both went the extra mile in their work.

He said: “Both of these consultants are dedicated to providing excellent care with compassion for our patients and they go the extra mile.

“We are delighted that their contribution has been recognised.”
