A yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for the North West.
MET Office advisor Kevin Wadsworth said: “The warning will cater for some wintry showers that we’re expecting on Thursday evening, overnight and into Friday morning.
“For most of us, the main risk will be from icy patches developing after any showers.
“Up on the higher ground of the Cumbrian Fells and Pennines though, above about 200-300m, we may see a light overing of snow.
“The rest of Friday looks like being mostly fine, with some thicker cloud and rain moving through overnight, perhaps lingering for a time on Saturday.”
He added: “There’s still a degree of uncertainty regarding the forecast for Sunday and Monday, but there’s the potential for some rain and strong winds.”
