Volunteers have been assembled for a river bank clean-up in Penwortham.

Recent high tides and rainfall has caused rubbish to accumulate on the banks of the River Ribble.

A group from the River Ribble Trust, who carried out a litter-pick in the same area last summer, have decided to act.

They will be downstream from Penwortham Bridge on Saturday, February 8 from 10am till noon.

If the weather is poor, the date will be swapped to Sunday, February 9.

The River Ribble Trust was set up in 1997 to o restore the river’s surrounding flora and wildlife to its former glory.
