“If you think about that in the cold light of day, it’s bonkers isn’t it? It is bonkers. Imagine being in Australia, you’re upside down. All the blood would rush to your head.”

In the same interview he also announced the secret birth of his fourth child.

The former England cricketter and his wife Rachael’s baby son was actually born at Christmas, but the couple have only just announced the birth and shared details of the name.. and what a name.

The couple named their new arrival Preston, after the cricket ace's home city.

Andrew said: “He’s called Preston and I’m from Preston.”

Freddie and his wife Rachael already have three other children; Holly, 15, Corey, 14, and Rocky, 12.

Flintoff, who hosts the BBC motoring show Top Gear, is a proud Lancastrian, having spent his entire county cricket career playing for the Red Rose.

He was also appointed to the role of Lancashire Ambassador, which will see him working with Marketing Lancashire to help raise the profile of his home county.

Commenting on the role last year, he said: “I’m a proud Lancashire lad and feel honoured to have been invited to become the first official Lancashire Ambassador.

“One of the best feelings in the world is representing your county and country, whether that’s in the field of sport or in business.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside fellow Lancastrians to help generate further interest and investment in the county, towards a more prosperous and secure future for Lancashire.

Flintoff married Rachael after meeting in 2002 and they had their first child in 2004 and had previously said the couple weren’t planning on having any more children.

“I originally wanted five but you have three and that felt like enough,” he said.
