Schoolchildren will be helping members of the Guild Wheel Users Group (GWUG) to plant wildflowers on the cycling route on Wednesday.

From 11am to 2pm, the GWUG will be behind the Shawes Arms pub off London Road, Walton-le-Dale, carrying out the second part of a project funded by Friends of Fishwick and St Matthew’s (FoFS) community group.

It is a small part of GWUG’s vision to improve the wildlife value of the 21-mile Guild Wheel.

Pupils from St Matthew’s CoE Primary will help with the planting at 11.15pm, and will also take time to look at a nearby tree planting project funded by the Woodland Trust.
