Elizabeth is Miss Preston

FIRST time competitor Elizabeth Grant has been crowned Miss Preston 2016 in a contest at the town's Playhouse Theatre on Market Street West.

Elizabeth Grant is crowned Miss Preston 2016 by Miss Preston 2015 Holly Moore.

It means she has qualified for a place in the Miss England semi-finals at Kelham Hall, Newark in June.

Student Elizabeth, 20, had never entered a pageant before and declared herself “so blessed to even be placed in the final” telling Facebook friends: “It’s been special”.

There was delight too for Elli Westwood, 14, who claimed the Junior Miss Preston title for contestants aged 13-16.

Organiser Mark Jones said: “It was brilliant. The two shows were sold out which was fantastic. It was a difficult decision for the judges as always.”

Miss Preston runner-up was Victoria Brown,24, with Daisy-Ann Brunskill third.

Hannah Wadsworth, 14, came second in Junior Mis Preston and Megan Dunne, 14, came third.

The finals of Miss England will be held in Southport.
