Eight fire engines rush to blaze at commercial building near Preston

Eight fire engines were called to a blaze in a commercial building in Higher Bartle this morning (January 20).

Fire crews from Fulwood, Preston, Penwortham, Leyland, Wesham, Chorley, Longridge, and Blackpool, and an aerial ladder platform from Blackburn, attended the scene in Tabley Lane at around 9.40am.

The fire reportedly affected an industrial unit approximately 60m x 20m in size.

Crews equipped with four breathing apparatus battled the flames using two hose reels and a thermal imaging camera.

No casualties were reported but an investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway, the fire service said.

In an update posted at 12:36pm, a spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "This incident has now been reduced to three fire engines and the aerial ladder platform."
