Sponsor Sir Charles Dunstone has sent a message of thanks to staff and pupils at Fulwood Academy after Ofsted lifted the school out of special measures.
The Carphone Warehouse co-founder expressed his delight at the news which he said reflected the “enormous” improvements brought about by principal Stephen Henry in just over a year in the job.
“I’m delighted that Ofsted have recognised the enormous progress we are making at Fulwood Academy,” said Sir Charles.
“The credit for this belongs to Stephen Henry, the hard working and committed teaching team and the brilliant students at the school. I give my sincere thanks to them all.”
Fulwood was plunged into special measures in 2013. But major staff changes, including the arrival of new head Mr Henry, turned things around.
Chairman of governors David Goldie said: “This shows our Academy is taking great strides forward through the hard work of teachers and students alike.”
