A world famous female percussion group is coming to Preston to celebrate Chinese New Year.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Central Lancashire has arranged for the Red Poppy Ladies performance troupe to appear at the Charter Theatre to celebrate the Year of the Goat.
The Beijing based group will reinterpret Mulan, a timeless, classic tale of one young girl’s bravery in the face of adversity. It tells the story of a peasant girl so committed to her ailing father the she disguises herself as a man and takes his place in the Emperors army. The performance will combine loud drumming and energetic Chinese kung fu and will take place between noon and 2pm on February 24. Tickets cost £10 for adults, £7 for children while groups of 10 and over are priced at £5 per ticket.
