The 26-year-old, from Ashton, has been appointed operations managers at Preston’s College.

Her job will be to co-ordinate the Fulwood institutions iSTEM teaching provision in ahead of the opening of its new £13m iSTEM Centre in September.

Rebecca has built up a five-year career with the college working as an advanced skills technician for science and a work-based assessor and has a wealth of experience in (Innovation and science technology and maths)

As iSTEM operations manager, she will be responsible for ensuring high-quality teaching is delivered consistently across the curriculum in both traditional and non-traditional iSTEM subjects.

Rebecca will also be responsible for working with local primary and secondary schools across Lancashire to improve links with schools across the county to help improve classroom teaching, knowledge and enthusiasm for iSTEM subjects.

She said: “I can’t wait to really get my teeth into the new role. A shortfall of suitably-skilled employees is already proving costly for businesses across Lancashire and our goal is to ensure more young people embrace iSTEM by focusing resources on the right areas.

“My role is all about helping to bridge the skills gap and I hope everyone that passes through the doors of the college’s new iSTEM centre embraces our ethics and vision for iSTEM provision.”
