THE the first event in a new literary initiative aimed at showcasing the very best of the North West’s writing talent takes place this week.
Acclaimed Preston authors Jenn Ashworth and Carys Bray and music by Lancaster University’s Rosa Francesca will feature in the launch on Friday.
The North West Literary Salon is the brainchild of Yvonne Battle-Felton, associate lecturer at Lancaster University, and Dr Naomi Kruger, who also teaches creative writing at the campus.
Jenn Ashworth and Carys Bray, the first authors to take part, have received many plaudits for their work.
Preston author Jenn Ashworth’s first novel, published in 2009, won a Betty Trask Award. In 2011 she was named one of the UK’s 12 best new writers.
Dr Kruger said: “Jenn and Cary’s latest novels are both set locally and feature Mormon families tackling issues of faith, doubt and family crisis.”
The free event takes on Friday in the Community History Room at Lancaster Library. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
