Schoolchildren in Garstang have been given a police dogs demonstration.

PC Phil Baxendale and PC Paul Baker went to Hummingbirds Educational Nursery and Saint Mary and Michael Catholic Primary School with his dogs Indy and Jasper.

Children were asked to hide scented objects for the dogs in the playground and watch how they found them.

After the demonstration, PC Baxendale then took the children to sit in a police van and demonstrated how the van’s various equipment worked.

PC Baxendale said: “Paul and I always enjoy going into schools to teach the children about the work we do.

“It’s one of the best parts of the job and sometimes tougher than our normal role when we’re faced with a sea of expectant faces staring up at us.”
