Preston-born Playwright Milo Bell has been highly commended in a national competition.
Milo, born and raised in the city, received the accolade for the over 21 category of the Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize, - hailed as the second largest playwriting prize.
Judges included actress and director Kathy Burke and playwright John Godber,
His play Baggage, in which four people spend the night shift in a hotel awaiting the arrival of a big shot TV producer, was inspired his own experiences of working as a hotel porter.
He said: “It has been a great experience and it has really spurred me on to continue writing. Awards like this are very helpful in raising the confidence of writers. Writing can be a lonely experience, and it is easy to give it up, so it is a great confidence booster to know that someone – especially the judges in this competition - like what you are doing.”
