Six pupils from Holy Cross Catholic High School have become millionaires.
The students in Years Seven to Nine at the Chorley school each read more than million words in the first academic term as part of the Accelerated Reading Programme.
Katrina Cubbins was the first pupil to read a million words this year and Lily Hesketh was not only the first pupil in Year Seven to become a word millionaire this year, but has nearly read two million words already.
The Holy Cross bookworms were awarded a certificate and badge in assembly and each got to choose a new book.
The Accelerated Reading scheme, run by the school, is popular with staff and pupils and is proving a boon encouraging reading for pleasure.
