Police believe the 19-year-old lost control of the Volkswagen Golf R on a roundabout before colliding with a stone wall in Church Road and coming to a rest in an adjoining field.

A 19-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car suffered a broken arm after the crash which took place on 6.10am on Wednesday, July 11.

Both were taken to Royal Preston Hospital where they remain in stable conditions.

Sergeant Steve Wignall of Lancashire Police’s Road Unit, said: “We know the area was busy around the time of the collision and are appealing to those witnesses to come forward with any information they may have if they haven’t already.”
