DJs affected by cancer to host Lancashire castle music festival

Duncan Dickins, Sara Rushton, Nick Kennerley and Robert Valinakis are all Ribble Valley DJs who will play at “Beats Cancer” for the second time in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Duncan, from Chatburn, said: “We wanted to support Cancer Research UK simply because of their amazing research, which is helping so many people across the UK.

“Everybody knows someone who has been touched by this horrible disease and we want to help make a difference to thousands of lives.

“We organised the event last year and raised over £2,000 so we hope this year we can raise even more to support the work of Cancer Research UK.

“It’s a way to bring our community together whilst raising funds for a seriously worth-while cause.”

The event, which is being held on Saturday, August 1, at the Clitheroe Castle Bandstand between 1 pm and 10 pm, will be welcoming headline acts including “Bontan”, an exciting new talent to emerge from the UK house music scene and DJ Paul Taylor, founder of RETRO one, of the longest standing brands in the dance music industry.

There will also be a licenced bar provided by Dove Syke Cider, hot food available from Ribble Valley Hog Roast and plenty to keep the children entertained throughout the day from inflatables, face paints and appearances from characters thanks to 4Kids Clitheroe.

“Beats Cancer” is a free event for all ages, although to make this possible and raise as much money in aid of Cancer Research UK, collection buckets will be available for a £5 suggested donation during the day.
