Diversions were put in place after a lorry and a van collided at a busy motorway junction.
The incident involving a Volvo lorry and a Peugeot van happened at 12.30pm today between junction 29 of the M6 and the M65.
The lorry partially jack-knifed as a result of the collision at the roundabout.
A Highways England spokesman said motorists could not go straight from the M6 northbound to the roundabout.
Instead they were being diverted onto a dedicated slip road onto the M65, which they used to get to the roundabout.
No-one was injured and the vehicles were removed by 2pm.
