An unemployed Chorley man has taken job hunting to a new level. Narinder Singh, 30, from Coppull, has become so desperate to find permanent work that he has literally taken his hunt to the streets.
Earlier this week he stood silently in the centre of Wigan’s main shopping area holding a sign that read: “Looking for work. Immediately available.”
I’ve got experience in warehouse work and data entry. I am open to anything really. I just want something to get me out of the house.Mr Singh
Explaining why he was taking such extraordinary measures to find work, he said: “I’ve been to the job centre and used universal match but whenever they’ve found me work it’s been temporary. I’m looking for something more secure.
Mr Singh, who lives with his partner and her family, says being jobless is “depressing”.
He said: “I’ve got experience in warehouse work and data entry. I am open to anything really. I just want something to get me out of the house.
“People have been saying ‘good luck’ and how they think it is a positive thing to do.
“I’ll keep going until I find something. I’m going to go to Chorley on Thursday so I’ll try there too.”
