A TWO time world darts champion from is heading to Lancashire to play at a fundraiser in aid of a Chorley children’s charity.
Lisa Ashton, who won the BDO Women’s World Championship in 2014 and retained her title at this year’s tournament, will play at a special fundraising event at The Judge Walmsley in Whalley on Saturday, with proceeds going to Derian House Children’s Hospice.
Doors open for the ticketed event at 6pm Saturday, and the evening will also include a pool tournament, raffle and auction. But the main event will be the darts tournament, with attendees throwing their name into a lottery for who gets to play the World Champion.
The event is being organised by Wendy Ann Smith, whose son Callum has Chronic Lung Disease.
Organiser Wendy Ann Smith said: “We’re over the moon to have a two-time World Darts Champion at our fundraising event.
“Derian House do such amazing work and we are really grateful that Lisa could come along and, hopefully, help us draw a large crowd on the night.”
Judy Miller, fundraiser at Derian House said: “We wish Wendy and Lisa all the best with their event and are incredibly grateful that they chose to raise money for Derian House. It is not easy to get new events off the ground so we hope the local community will get behind it and I’m sure it will be a brilliant evening.”
Tickets for the event can be bought from Wendy by calling her on 07889 544 327.
