Sue Catlow, a member of the organising team, said: “The new venue will mean that the show will be accessible to everyone in Lancashire including those who need to rely on public transport and we are extremely grateful to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for allowing us to use the Park.”

As well as retaining the traditional livestock, horticulture and equine classes, the show also has addedd attractions including a display of dancing sheep. Spectators young and old can get involved and try their hand at archery, tomahawk throwing, minitanks and the fundfair.

There will also be dog and duck displays, ferret racing, sheep shearing , gun dog displays, and dog agility classes.

Proud pooch owners can also enter on the day for the Fun Dog Competition.

First held in Lancaster in 1847, the Royal Lancashire Argicultural Show, as it was then called, has moved around various county venues since, including Blackpool, Lytham, Burnley and Ribby Hall.

Sue added: “All we can hope for now is some good weather to make the day just perfect but whatever the weather I would encourage all Lancastrians to come along and see some of the delights the County has to offer.”
