Dad's 5,000 mile medical mercy trip is his last shot

Chris Bogumil, 56, of Lostock Hall, near Preston, has Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, a form of the illness where sufferers keep deteriorating rather than having sudden attacks.

The married dad-of-two knows that time is running out for him, as his condition is worsening and he will reach a stage where his muscles weaken so much, he will have to be fed by tube.

Chris says he has exhausted all treatment in this country and has tried in vain to join trials for new drugs.

Now his only hope is stem cell treatment in Mexico at a cost of £35,000.

The haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) treatment is available at several clinics worldwide but Chris believes the high-quality Clinic Ruiz in Puebla, Mexico, is his best and cheapest option.

He said: “Going to Mexico is my last shot at life and I am willing to put myself in debt rather than wait.”
