A dad has appeared in court charged with the murder of his 13-month-old son.
Liam Cairns, 26, of no fixed address, has not yet entered a plea.
At Preston Crown Court on Monday, Cairns spoke only to confirm his name at the preliminary hearing, as a timetable was set out for the proceedings.
Aiden Cairns died in March 2014 when he was 13 months old.
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance following reports he had stopped breathing.
Following an application by the Evening Post, the Recorder of Preston, Judge Anthony Russell QC, lifted reporting restrictions on the case.
Cairns has been remanded in custody and will return to court on August 28 to enter his plea to the charge of murder.
A provisional trial date has been set for November 30.
