Croston showcases gardens at open day

Villagers in Croston will be swinging open their garden gates for a day on Sunday, July 9.

Croston Open Gardens, had run for many years before the sad death of one of its prime movers, Linda Websdell.

Linda’s husband, Roy, said: “Linda would have loved that people are reopening their gardens in a good cause, and showcasing their amazing recovery after such devastating floods.”

A range of private gardens in the picturesque village will be on show, from wild and informal to landscaped minimalist and picture-box perfect country gardens.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Croston Together, a local charity which has emerged from the action group created to assist those affected by the 2015 Boxing Day floods, and which has now developed into a charity to support existing village organisations, groups and projects, and also new initiatives.

The gardens will be open 11am-4pm. Tickets will be on sale on the day for £5 from The Old School, and will cover entry to all the gardens.
