Police have made an appeal for information after a teenager was assaulted in a late night takeaway in Preston city centre.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The victim, an 18-year-old woman from Clifton, near Preston, was buying food in the takeaway in Church Street at around 2am on Monday May 25.

Police say she became involved in an altercation with another woman.

During the incident the younger woman is understood to have been punched in the face.

She suffered a swollen nose and mouth injuries.

PC Deborah Moran said: “We have CCTV images of a woman who we would like to trace in connection with the assault.

“I would urge anyone with information about her identity or about the incident itself to get in touch.

“They can call us on 01772 209802, quoting log number 459 of May 26.”

The woman police are trying to trace is described as being white and thought to be in her late twenties, with long dark brown hair.
