Woman pushed over by Preston city centre robber

A woman has been robbed near Preston bus station.

The incident happened between 1pm and 2pm on Monday when the 21-year-old woman was walking from Lord Street through the pathway across the grass towards Tithebarn Street.

A man approached her from behind and snatched her wallet out of her hand, causing her to fall over.

The man then ran back on to Lord Street. The wallet contained cash and personal cards. The victim was left shaken and was helped by members of the public.

The man is described as Asian, around 25, with short dark brown hair. He was around 6ft, of medium to large build, and was wearing blue jumper and blue tracksuit bottoms.

DC Azam Khan from Preston CID said: “This robbery was carried out in broad daylight and left the victim extremely shaken.

“An investigation is underway to find the man responsible and we are checking CCTV in the area. I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us.”
