Residents in Ribbleton, Preston, are being warned to lock up their property after a spike in burglaries on both houses and sheds in the area.

Sgt Paul McLernon, of Fulwood Police, said there had been “a series of burglaries on Hawthorn Road and the surrounding area.”

Various kinds of possessions have been stolen.

Two people have been arrested and quizzed in connection with the thefts, but residents are being warned to keep their valuables secure, and doors and windows locked.

Police say further arrests are expected.

Sgt McLernon said: “Please make sure you keep all valuables in a safe place, property mark them if you can and ensure your premises are kept locked and secured.

The issue is expected to be discussed at an online Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting on Wednesday January 14 - the first such event for the city of Preston.
