A ‘high risk’ wanted man has been arrested after an early-morning pursuit involving police dogs.

Inspector Steve Bradshaw confirmed that man wanted over a domestic incident in Lancaster was identified driving his car on the M6 near Charnock Richard by a dog handler.

The officer called in support from the road policing unit, who backed off while a helicopter team was called in.

But before the helicopter could be dispatched, the wanted man, who is 41 and from Leicestershire, pulled into Charnock Richard Services.

At 3.30am on Wednesday he was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault.
