A man was threatened with a knife during a shop raid in Penwortham, say police.

Police were called after three men were reported to have entered the Thorougoods on Leyland Road on Sunday November 19 at around 10pm.

One of the men was said to have jumped over the counter and threatened a male shop assistant while a second was locked in a toilet.

Police are now appealing for information from anyone who can help with their investigation.

A police spokesman said: "Three men have entered Thorougoods and one of them has jumped over the counter and threatened a male shop assistant with a knife whilst demanding the till be opened.

"A second shop assistant was locked in a toilet and had her phone and purse stolen.

"The offenders have left with some cigarettes and cash, getting into a dark coloured car outside and drove off."
