UPDATE: Two-year-old hit by car taken to specialist hospital

A two-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car.

The incident involving a green Fiat Punto happened at 1.40pm on Wednesday, near the junction of St George’s Road and St Christopher’s Road in Deepdale, Preston.

St George’s Road was closed between St Paul’s Road and Deepdale Road while Lancashire police investigated.

The boy was taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital and then transferred to the Manchester Children’s Hospital. His condition was described as serious.

Sgt Malcolm Bell, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “This incident involved a young child who has received some serious injuries. I would appeal to anyone who saw the incident or who has any information to contact us.”

Preston Bus revealed re-routed the 88A/88C and 14 buses due to the incident.
