Two men charged and named after 'violent' machete attack at Blackpool hotel

A man from Preston and a man from Wigan have been charged following a violent machete attack at a Blackpool Promenade hotel.

The attack, which took place on Sunday, July 5 at the Doric Hotel on Queen’s Promenade, resulted in three people being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident on Tuesday, July 28 following a police appeal.

Officers have now confirmed Andrew Price, 26, of Leaway, Ince, Wigan, and Francis Michael Dinnigan, 25, of Leighton Street, Preston, have been charged with violent disorder.

They are due to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court today (July 29).

A Lancashire police spokesman said: "Officers were called at around 11.15pm on July 5 to a hotel on Queens Promenade, Blackpool, to reports of a public order incident.

"When they arrived they discovered that a group of approximately seven men, in possession of weapons including machetes, had attacked another group of men before making off from the area.

"Three people were taken to hospital for treatment but have since been discharged."

Patrick Gavin, 26, of Leighton Street, Preston, has previously been charged with the same offence and appeared before Preston Magistrates' Court on July 22.
