Two Burnley men charged after man 'badly beaten' with weapons and robbed in Bacup

Two men have been charged following a robbery which resulted in a man being taken to hospital after he was robbed in his own home in Bacup.

Police were called to reports a man in his 50s had been attacked with weapons and robbed in his own home in Rockliffe Villas on Friday, August 7.

The victim - who had suffered a puncture wound to the chest and a fractured cheek bone - was rushed to hospital for treatment, but police have confirmed he has since been discharged.

Matthew Grimshaw, 37, of Fenwick Street, Burnley, and Aaron Alston, 35, of Laithe Street, Burnley, have both been charged with robbery following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Grimshaw has also been charged with breach of a non-molestation order.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "They appeared before Blackburn Magistrates Court on Tuesday and are due to appear at the Crown Court on September 18."
