Two arrested and meat cleaver seized after police investigate drug dealing in Chorley

The men were arrested after police responded to reports of drug dealing in Hollinshead Street on Wednesday (April 22).

Officers had been investigating complaints of drug dealing in the early hours of the morning when they stopped a Ford Fiesta with four men on board.

Searching the suspects at the scene, the officers found a meat cleaver hidden in the car.

Two men were arrested and taken into custody, but have since been released under investigation.

A police spokesman said: "A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a meat clever and two of the group were arrested.

"One of them was the driver, a 29-year-old man from Chorley, who was detained on suspicion of driving with excess drink and drugs.

"A passenger, also 29 and from Chorley, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an unlawful weapon.

"They have both since been released under investigation whilst we carry out further enquiries."

The force added: "We just wanted to update you and remind you that we take your reports of drug related crime seriously.

"Please continue to help us deal with this issue by passing on information to us.
