Have your say

The son and daughter of a pensioner who died five days after a car crash have paid tribute to him.

William Simpson, 84, from Carnforth, passed away in hospital on Sunday, August 9.

His son and daughter Andrew and Yvonne Simpson said: “We would like to thank all those people involved who helped in making our father’s last moments the best possible.

“Sadly dad was involved in a car accident which eventually led to him passing away later.

“We would like to thank the gentleman who stopped to assist dad so soon after the accident ( we appreciate your help sir), the police in their treatment and understanding of the incident and help thereafter.

“Last but no means least, the wonderful staff of the Royal Lancaster Infirmary on their care, not only for dad but also caring for his family in attendance, may I say on behalf of the Simpson family, we are indebted for your care and thoughtfulness.”

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the collision in Morecambe earlier this month.

The accident happened at around 1.15pm on Tuesday August 4 on Coastal Road when a blue Citroen Picasso which was being driven towards Carnforth veered off the carriageway and collided with the rear of a parked Silver Fiat Ducato.

PS James Power of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic accident and my thoughts remain with Mr Simpson’s family. An investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision is underway and we are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to contact us with information.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting log 619 of August 4.
