Travellers were moved on by police after a tense stand-off on the car park of a business in Preston.

Officers were called to the Trans-Continental Group premises off Eastway on Monday afternoon after a clash with security staff.

Two families in a mobile home and a caravan managed to get on to the firm’s car park in Oliver’s Place before the entrance was blocked off.

A member of staff said: “Things were a little difficult for a while and one of the travellers became quite aggressive. So we called the police.”

One man was handcuffed by officers, but he was then released after the group agreed to quit the site.
