On Facebook, Preston Police said: "Numerous reports over the last few days painted the picture of this noisy hybrid contraption being driven across the peaceful fields of Ribbleton Park, surrounding roads and footpaths, causing severe nuisance to nearby residents and dog walkers.

"Needless to say, the vehicle is not registered to be driven on roads, never mind insurance and is dangerous even for the riders.

"The manner it was being driven in was putting pedestrians at risk, who should be able to enjoy a stroll in the park without nearly being mowed down."

As well as seizing the trike, officers noted some 'elegant' markings on the side in reference to the police force.

"The sleek and elegant design even included some articulate Pro-Police markings," a police spokesman said.
