Three men arrested after large kitchen knife found by police following brawl in Ashton-on-Ribble

Three men were arrested after a large kitchen knife was discovered by police following reports a brawl had broken out on a street in Ashton-on-Ribble.

Police were called to reports a number of people were fighting and a knife had been seen in Tulketh Brow at around 9pm on Tuesday (July 19).

Officers found a large kitchen knife after searching the area and later discovered a man hiding in the shed of a nearby property.

Three Preston men – aged 21, 22 and 23 – were arrested on suspicion of affray and remained in custody for questioning on Wednesday (July 20).

Chief Insp Sue Bushell, from Preston Police, said: “We will not tolerate those found in possession of knives in public, and I want to reassure residents that we take any report of knife crime extremely seriously.

“We will continue to use all appropriate powers available to us to keep communities safe.

“We would ask people to be vigilant and to provide us with information about knife crime if they believe it is happening in their area.”

In a separate incident that day, two people were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after a property in Walton’s Parade was searched.

Officers patrolling the area entered the property after witnessing “suspicious activity” and subsequently found a “substantial amount” of a suspected Class A drug.

A 21-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Preston, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Police said enquiries were ongoing.
