A duo who threatened and harassed a disabled woman have been ordered to pay her £150 in compensation.

Matthew Clayton, 40, and Lisa Thornton, 38, denied using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards their victim, during an incident in Bamber Bridge on April 26 last year.

But the pair, both of Ronaldsway, Ribbleton, Preston, were found guilty at South Ribble Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates heard they caused the woman harassment, alarm or distress.

However, the bench said they “did not find that the offence was motivated by hostility towards the disability of the complainant”.

Magistrates fined Clayton and Thornton £300 each.

They were both told to pay their victim £75 in compensation.

And they were each hit with a £175 bill for court costs to be paid to the Crown Prosecution Service and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharges.

In total the pair were each told they must pay £580 by February 10.
