Thieves have removed bricks from a wall to break into a supermarket and steal £2,500 in cash.

The raiders removed two layers of bricks from the wall of the Sainsbury’s store on Park Hill Road, Garstang, on Boxing Day, to break into the cash room.

They then stole money in coins and cash from the room.

A Lancashire Police spokesman confirmed the robbery had taken place between 5.45pm and 9.25pm.

He said: “Having removed the bricks, they have made their way into a three-foot access hole and got into the cash room of the supermarket.

“They have then stolen cash and coins to the value of £2,500.”
