Tesco supermarket evacuated after bomb scare in Burnley

Police were called to Tesco Extra on Finsley Gate in Burnley after the store received a call stating there was a bomb in the store at around 12:49pm today (February 14).

Shoppers and staff were quickly evacuated as officers checked the scene.

Eyewitnesses report seeing fire engines, ambulances and several police officers at the scene.

No bomb was found during the search.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at 12:49pm today (February 14) to reports of a bomb threat at Tesco on Finsley Gate in Burnley.

"The store was evacuated.

"Officers have attended and there is not thought to be a credible threat.

"The store will shortly be reopened."

Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the source of the phone call.
