A care worker has been punched in the face during a street robbery.

On Saturday, February 21 at about 7.35pm, the 19-year-old woman was walking down Old Vicarage across from Preston Bus Station, when she was confronted by two men.

One of them asked her for money, then grabbed her handbag and removed her purse. He then reached inside her jacket pocket, taking her handbag and iPhone 4s.

The man then punched the woman in the face, knocking her backwards into a rubbish bin. Both men then ran off in the direction of the city centre.

The man who attacked the woman was white, around 25 years old, 5ft 6ins, of slim build with short dark hair. He wore a black hooded top.

The second man was white, 5ft 6ins, aged around 20, with short dark hair and was wearing a black jacket with a white logo on the left chest.

DS Jerry Sturgess said was a “callous and violent robbery” that has left the victim shaken.
