Teenager armed with hidden machete arrested by police in Blackburn

A teenage boy was arrested after police uncovered a machete hidden in his clothing in Blackburn.

Police were called to reports a group of teenagers were causing anti-social behaviour in The Mall shopping centre at around 2.30pm today (December 10).

When officers arrived on the scene they arrested a 15-year-old boy and took a second boy home to his mother.

Upon inspection by police, the arrested teen was found to be in possession of two knives that had been hidden in his clothing - one of which was reportedly a 24cm machete-style knife.

The boy is currently waiting to be interviewed at Greenbank police station.

"The Town Centre team want to reassure everyone that we are on patrol looking to keep you all safe, over the festive period we have extra officers in and around the Town Centre," a spokesman for Lancashire Police said.
