A teenager has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm after an alleged stabbing in a Fulwood play area.
The 14-year-old - who can not be identified for legal reasons - did not enter any pleas when he appeared at the city’s Youth Court yesterday.
However he faces charges of section 18 wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
Officers were called to the Mill Lane play area off Cadley Causeway at around 9pm on Bank Holiday Monday following reports a teenager had been stabbed.
It is understood the 15-year-old was with a group of friends when he was attacked by another boy in the play area.
The alleged victim - believed to be a schoolboy from the local area - was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he was treated for a puncture wound to his thigh.
He returned home that evening following treatment.
Officers searched the area and carried out a number of enquiries.
A 14-year-old was arrested and made his first appearance at the youth court on Wednesday.
Following the brief hearing he was granted bail and ordered to return to the court on June 2.
Officers are calling for witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time of the alleged attack to come forward as they continue their investigations into the alleged incident.
DC Justin Singleton, of Preston CID said: “This was a nasty attack on a young man and so I urge anyone with any information at all please to come forward.
“We are particularly keen to talk anyone who was in the park or near Cadley Causeway at the time of the incident who may have seen it.”
