Suspected stun gun and cannabis seized in Preston as two men arrested

Police in Preston have seized a suspected stun gun and arrested two men over night after initially stopping one of them in the street and finding drugs on him.

The investigation began when officers used stop and search powers to detain a 28 year old man on Shelly Road in Ashton on Ribble last night.

The man was found in possession of a large quantity of cannabis and drug dealing paraphernalia and was subsequently arrested.

Following a further search of a linked nearby address, officers detained a 30 year old man in possession of the suspected stun gun device.

A police spokesman said: "We are glad to be able to have this dangerous weapon, something designed with the sole purpose of causing harm to others - and the illegal drugs - off the streets, along with the associated crimes prevented.

"Both men men are currently housed in Preston custody waiting to be interviewed for these offences.

"The evidence will then be passed onto the Crown Prosecution Service for decisions on whether to charge the individuals."
