Sudden death of 56-year-old Preston man is unexplained, say police

The sudden death of a 56-year-old man at a home in Preston remains 'unexplained'.

According to police, the man died suddenly at his home in Acregate Lane yesterday afternoon.

Forensic officers attended the home, off Ribbleton Lane, but the cause of death remains unexplained. But police are not treating the unexplained cause of death as suspicious at this time.

Neighbours said the man had lived at the house with his partner for a number of years.

A local shopkeeper said: "They come in all the time but they usually keep to themselves. You hear all kinds of things about what happened. But even the police don't know."

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 1.17pm yesterday (Tuesday December 11) to reports of a sudden death at an address on Acregate Lane in Preston.

"Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His death is currently being treated as unexplained and is not being treated as suspicious.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
