‘Special’ insight for volunteers

The public will given an insight into the lives of Lancashire’s 471 Special officers this weekend as they take to the streets to raise awareness.

Chief Constable Steve Finnigan said: “We have good quality people working as specials and their commitment reflects that which we see in our regular officers.

Nigel Walters, of Lancashire’s Special Constabulary, said specials had worked more than 124,000 hours in the last year and added: “They seized over 3,000 litres of alcohol from underage drinkers, performed over 2,000 checks on licensed premises, completed over 1,600 breathalyser tests and seized 113 vehicles.”
