Shotgun fired at BMW in 'targeted' drive-by shooting in Accrington

Lancashire Police is investigating after the white BMW was shot at in a drive-by shooting in Avenue Parade last night (August 11).
Residents reported hearing two shots fired before the sound of a motorbike was heard making a hasty getaway from the area.

Hide AdA police spokesman said: "We were called at shortly after 11pm to reports of gun shots on Avenue Parade in the town.
"Patrols attended and found a white BMW with damage consistent with a shotgun discharge.
"Luckily no-one was injured."
It is believed that the car had been parked outside a home, but police have not confirmed whether the BMW was occupied at the time of the shooting.
An investigation is now underway and police are appealing for information.

Hide AdInspector Steve Rides, of Accrington Police, said: "While we believe this was a targeted incident we are treating it extremely seriously as it is only a matter of good fortune that no-one was seriously hurt.
"I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has any information to get in touch."
