Shop assistant threatened at knifepoint after three men attempt to rob store in Nelson

Three men entered a shop in Brierfield before threatening the store assistant at knifepoint and demanding money from the till.

Officers are investigating following an attempted robbery at Pam’s Pantry in Brierfield yesterday (March 25th).

Three men entered the shop, located on Burnley Road, shortly after 2.15pm.

One man was reportedly carrying a knife and made threats towards the shop assistant.

After another man demanded money from the till a struggle ensued.

All three men left empty handed a short time later in the direction of Lord Street.

There were no reported injuries.

DC Heather McAtee of Burnley Police said: “This is a serious offence regardless of the current situation with COVID-19. However, I would like to stress that Pam’s Pantry is a local convenience shop selling essential supplies to the local community and this offence against the staff there who are key workers is totally unacceptable.

“If you recognise these men or have any idea of their whereabouts please get in touch. I would also appeal to members of the community who were in the area at the time and saw anything they now feel they need to report to please make contact.”

The first male police want to speak to in connection with the incident is described as Asian, of medium build.

At the time of the incident he was seen wearing a burgundy hooded jumper with white string and a light blue t-shirt underneath.

He was also wearing grey tracksuit bottoms with white string on the waist, black trainers, a black mask with luminous material near the mouth area and black gloves.

The second male is described as Asian, of slim build.

He was seen wearing a black puffer jacket with a white logo on the chest and dark blue/black tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe down the leg ending at the knee.

He was also wearing a crosshatch scarf over his face and black shoes with red laces at the time of the incident.

The third male is described as white, of slim build, and at the time of the incident he was seen wearing a black cap, a green jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.
