A main road in Chorley was shut for more than three hours after a man started throwing household objects from a window, including a cooker and a television.

Police were called at 4am on Tuesday, October 14 to a house in Pall Mall, and closed the surrounding road for safety reasons.

A specialist negotiator was called in to assist, and the man was detained at 6.30am and taken to hospital. The road was reopened shortly after 8am.
