Lifeboat crews were called to search for a “vulnerable” missing man.
Morecambe’s RNLI inshore rescue hovercraft launched after a request from the coastguard to assist in the search for the man.
The crew was asked to help in the search for the 24-year-old, at 5pm on Tuesday.
Launching from Snatchems onto the River Lune, the crew searched both banks of the river from Skerton to Sunderland Point but did not find the missing man.
They then stood down and returned to the station.
The man was later located at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
Morecambe RNLI lifeboat operations manager, Kevin Jackson, said: “At low water, our hovercraft is ideal for conducting this type of search, over a large area, both quickly and safely.
“Although we did not find him, we were happy to assist the coastguard in their efforts to try and locate the missing man.”
